C.S. Coen always believed in hard work and good service.  As a young boy, he would carry water to the workers at the St. Marys, WV refinery to help support his family.  By the 1920s, he had risen to the rank of a senior executive of the predecessor for what became the Coen Oil Company, leading the organization to service the public with service stations and tires.
